Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need my own camera for the workshops?
Yes, participants are generally required to bring their own DSLR, mirrorless camera, or advanced compact camera with manual controls. Specific equipment requirements are listed on each workshop's detail page. While bringing your own gear is best for learning, we do have a very limited number of basic DSLR cameras available for hire – please contact us well in advance to check availability and fees if you need to rent one.
Are the online courses suitable for absolute beginners?
Absolutely! Our "Photography Fundamentals" online course is specifically designed for those starting from scratch. It covers everything from understanding your camera's buttons and dials to core concepts like exposure (aperture, shutter speed, ISO), composition basics, focusing, and essential gear. No prior photography knowledge is assumed. Check the course descriptions for recommended starting points based on your current level.
Where are the in-person workshops held?
Workshop locations vary depending on the topic. Many theory and studio-based sessions (like portrait lighting) are held at our well-equipped studio space at 42 Wallaby Street, Level 3, Sydney CBD. Outdoor workshops, such as landscape or street photography, take place at specific, scenic, or relevant locations around Sydney (e.g., Circular Quay, botanical gardens, beaches, specific laneways). The exact meeting point and location details are always provided clearly upon registration.
What is the duration of the online courses?
Our online courses are entirely self-paced, meaning you can learn whenever and wherever suits you best. While most students actively engage with and complete a course within 4 to 8 weeks, dedicating a few hours per week, you receive lifetime access upon enrollment. This allows you to revisit modules, review materials, and refresh your knowledge anytime in the future without any time pressure.
What kind of support is available during online courses?
We offer support through dedicated course forums where you can ask questions, interact with instructors and fellow students, and share your work for feedback. For technical issues, our support team is available via email. While online courses are self-paced, we foster an active learning community to ensure you don't feel like you're learning alone.
